"Staff Value the children as individuals and use the children’s interests to involve them in their learning.  As a result, the children are keen to learn and are making good progress in their learning and development ".  OFSTED

We have a pattern of events that the children follow each day, with which they become familiar and feel secure.  The following is a detailed description of a typical morning:

Bright Sparks AccidentDuring the first part of the morning it is Free Activity time either inside or outside. The children have the freedom to choose from the full range of nursery equipment.  The teachers are involved in observing the children and keeping detailed records on their progress, introducing equipment, supporting group games, guiding art and craft activities and working with individual children.

Then we have Assembly where the children answer the register and learn about the topic, letter, number, shape and colour of the week. They are encouraged to speak, listen, investigate and share ideas.

The next session is Group/Circle Time when the children take part in a wide range of activities to help their speaking, listening, language and mathematical skills. The children learn to hold their pencil correctly and practise letter or number shapes using the sand paper characters and sand tray.  They also learn, using Jolly Phonics, the letter sounds with actions.  Children use a range of learning materials, including the key Montessori equipment, to help develop early reading and mathematical skills.

Next is Break Time were the children have a drink, and a choice of healthy snacks. Following this they go for Outdoor Play

Then it is Group Activity Time either inside or outside, activities include Art & Craft, Cooking, Gardening, Singing, Music & Movement, Percussion, PE, Parachute Games, Assault Courses.  We have Enhanced Activities every day which include Music, French, Dance, Drama and Pony Care/Riding. We have specialist teachers to run these activities.

At the end of the morning we introduce the children to a wide range of Stories and Rhymes.  They learn nursery and finger rhymes and sometimes use puppets.
